    Named after the shalwar worn on the feet instead of the “kıspet” in oil wrestling or the “pırtpıt” in karakucak, this wrestling game is played standing up. The wrestling starts standing when the belly or knees touch the ground. Shalwar wrestling; takes its name from its clothing. In addition, this clothing is based on pre-Islamic Turkish tradition.     The sport gained prominence during the Ottoman Empire, where it was practiced in various regions, particularly in Anatolia.

    Wrestlers wear shalwar and their feet are bare. All techniques are performed standing up in short shalwar wrestling. When the opponent falls down, they are given a single chance to move. If this move does not work, they are usually made to stand up.
    Shalwar wrestling can be done on pasture, grass, threshing floor, soft sifted sand ground, rice husk spread on the ground, grass ground and on snow.
    Techniques used in shalwar wrestling: yanbaşı, iç çangal, dış çangal, bağda, tırpan, domuz topu, döş çangalı, aldangaç, künde, dilkiden atma, yan bağda, dilki çanğalı.

    Senior category (20 years and over)
    50 kg, 55 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg. 70 kg, 75 kg, 80 kg, 85 kg, 90 kg. Starting time: 10 minutes.
